本課程依國防部致清華大學「國人培育字第1090193121號」函:《國防部委託國立大學辦理國防學士班選訓合約書》附件「國內國立大 學校院國防學士班教育中心運作實施規定」為大一軍事素養教育必修課。 American English sometimes called U.S. English, is the set of varieties of the English language native to the United States. Currently, American English is the most influential form of English for military communication worldwide. Requested by the Ministry of Defense that all university Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) cadets have to take this course compulsorily in order to strengthen cadets’ American Language ability in future allied military operation.

Course Desription: Core capability to be cultivated by this course: ■ Enhancing ability to communicate and express oneself in military community using American Language (70%) ■ Logical reasoning & critical thinking (10%) ■ Scientific thinking & reflection (10%) ■ Art & humanity (5%) ■ Diverse views & social practices (5%) This course aims to prepare cadets' reading, speaking, listening, and writing ability of Military American Language while collaborating with allied armed forces personnel in mixed training during peacetime and in joint operation during armed conflict. Cadets learn how to use fluently the military phonetic alphabet, time frame, figure number, coordinate and direction; learn how to correctly use military unit, personnel rank, title, terminology, jargon, slang, motto, and ethos; also learn how to speak military radio phraseology, courtesy call, answering courtesies, cadence call, and jingles in rhythm. Finally, cadets learn how to prepare for briefing and debriefing in combat operation. This course also enhances on basic combat training, leadership styles, explosive ordnance disposal, procedures and precautions. 2.
